Health Insurance and Accident Insurance

To ensure the health security of long-term residents in Thailand, the Thai government has stipulated that applicants for Long Stay visas must have health insurance coverage that meets strict criteria. The purpose is to reduce the financial burden of potential medical expenses.

1. Mandatory Requirements for Long Stay Visas (Non-Immigrant "O-A" and "O-X")

Applicants for Non-Immigrant "O-A" (1 year) and Non-Immigrant "O-X" (10 years) visas must have health insurance that covers the entire duration of their stay in Thailand, with a minimum coverage limit as follows:

* Important Notes:

- Insurance Companies: The policy must be issued by an insurance company authorized in Thailand only. You can verify and purchase policies that meet the criteria from the website of the Thai Insurance Association (TGIA) or leading insurance companies.
- Continuous Coverage: Visa holders must maintain the validity of their insurance policy throughout the period they are authorized to stay in Thailand.

2. Requirements for Long Stay Visas (LTR Visa - Wealthy Pensioner)

Although the overall requirements for the LTR visa are quite flexible, applicants in the Wealthy Pensioner category must also provide proof of health fitness. The guidelines are as follows:

- Main Requirements: Applicants must provide evidence of having health insurance or medical coverage with a minimum coverage limit as specified by the Immigration Bureau (which is generally higher than the basic requirements for Non-O-A/O-X visas)
- Alternatives: In some cases, LTR applicants may be able to demonstrate sufficient health insurance coverage or assets to cover medical expenses (e.g., 100,000 USD or 3,000,000 THB in certain periods)
